Steve Gorton
Director
Steve's role in leadership, people development and organisational transformation has its origins in solid commercial experience together with academia. Following a twenty year sales and marketing career in the pharmaceutical industry he gained an MBA and now tutors at that level for the Open University and Durham University Business Schools.
Whilst studying his MBA the key question arose - "Where there is a vision and the skills - why does change work only 20% of the time?" The answer is usually that strategic context and people's attitudes and beliefs are ignored. In co-founding Enabling Development, Steve helps individuals, teams and organisations determine their way forward to deliver enhanced business performance.

As a founding member of Enabling Development his easy yet demanding coaching style sits well with senior executives and aspirants alike.
In addition to one-to-one and group coaching Bob also facilitates a number of public and private Leadership and People Development courses attracting delegates from global corporations. He is also a visiting tutor at Hertfordshire University.

He is a "businessman in HR". He has a Masters in Human Resource Development. He had a successful commercial career in Shell International for over 20 years and believes that "best practice" relies on the ability of organisations to deliver it! A practical approach would be 'what could this organisation manage now?‘ His commercial background has led to a "no nonsense" approach to HR where he believes their fundamental aim must be to help deliver the company's business objectives.
He is keen to ensure that the outputs of HR support the business and are coherent with each other. He delivers not only the strategy but also the nuts and bolts that deliver the strategy. He is a proven facilitator of people development courses and coaching at Director level. Abigail's experience in consulting began in the United States, where she worked with Corporations, medical institutions and government to analyse the costs and resulting operational effects of medical care. Following an MBA, with a focus of team development, she worked as a strategic consultant for a Management Consulting company, helping a variety of global Corporations manage their organisational design and development.
Abigail's work with Executive teams developed her premise that companies cannot afford to develop their corporate goals and strategies unless these are effectively aligned to each individual's personal values and beliefs. As an Enabling Development associate, her individual and team coaching is based on ensuring individuals are aware and tooled-up to lead effectively, based on their own, team and Corporate needs.
